In the past using wax on ferrules was standard advice, but I have learned on the board here that that is not advisable.

I tried some dry graphite lubricant on an old rod's ferrules yesterday and it seemed to work well. This may be an option to consider now that Trondak is no longer making their ferrule lube.

I've used a product called Dri-Slide that I used on my military issue M-16 back in the day when they jammed so much on regular lubes that collected crud. Works ok, but not as good as the old discontinued ferrule lube. Don't use anything anymore, just keep the areas clean, and use the 90 degree connection trick. It solved about all my problems.

Most blank manufacturers advise that you use nothing, other than to keep them clean.

I have used Ferrule lube by Trondak U-40 The makers of Rod Bond for years. What ever you use make sure the male and female parts are free from grim, dust, or any foreign material. Also to help putting a graphite rod together, do it with a twisting motion, putting it together or taking it apart. NEVER use any thing that well leave a oil film!!

Did anyone say "why" a very light coat of wax is not advisable? I, like millions of others, have had no problems in the past 30+ years...

Just wondering...

WAX will allow dirt and sand to build up and work like sand paper and cut into the blank and it also cause the blank to lock. When it locks you can not get it apart. Never use anything that leave a film. As for wax you can use it on the rest of the rod, but not on the ferrule joints

Even candle wax lightly applied? Come on you guys....Really? Never lost a section or had a ferrule stick yet....Are you Engineers inventing things? LOL

There are a lot of things you can get by with, but that doesn't make them the recommended practice. You might never have a problem, then again it could be headed your way. There is a reason that the folks that make the multi-piece blanks recommended not coating them with anything.

The Bayonet Twist works very well on a clean ferrules

If they don't stay together without wax then you need a Ferrule adjustment ?
