Decal cover up help/opinions

I have been asked by someone who purchased a fairly large supply of closeout rods to cover up the factory label and replace with his(labels not made yet). This is a fairly big undertaking and I want to do this the fastest and least costly way possible. Obviously I could wrap over and place new label and refinish, but was wondering if I could get a label with a black background and the customer's info and simply apply and refinish. I have read the Electric Decal article and searched through the posts, seems like that is the way to go.

Any thoughts or ideas?

Maybe it's just me..... I wouldn't do this. Seems a tad "shady" covering up one label with another for ....... resale for work not done?????

No no no no! Not for resale! That was the first question I asked. This guy operates a charter business(4 boats) and wanted his name to cover the factory label. We're talking about 24 or 30 rods(big job to me).

I was asking about the best way to do this as he wants his charter logo and name on the rods. Should have said that!

Kevin,
Very simple.
Have a label made that will be dark and will cover all of the former label. If possible have the colors match the blank to be less obtrusive.

Apply the label, Put on a coat of guide wrap, let dry and return the rods.

If you have a drum dryer, you can do the entire job in a couple of hours.

Kevin-Color some finish with black pigment-brush over the area to be covered. When it's dry you can use a clear decal, which, in my opinion is more eye-pleasing.
