BEST BRUSH FOR APPLYING PERMAGLOSS?

Hello everyone,
I'm new to this board but not to rodcrafting. I gave Permagloss a whirl 24 years ago. Ended up with too many bubbles to make it worth my trouble. Can't remember if it was because I over brushed it (most likely) or if it was due to applying second coat too soon. All I know is that I ended up rewrapping the rod and using epoxy. Is it better to use a brush with a fine or coarse bristle? Can it be applied effectively with a metal or rubber spatula? Going to give it another whirl and I'm looking for your well respected opinions. Thanks to all! Respectfully, Craig Re: BEST BRUSH FOR APPLYING PERMAGLOSS?

I believe Craig is coating wraps , Dennis correct me if Im wrong but you are referring to coating an entire blank. I have had great success with the yellow flex coat brushes. Pour some PG into a shot glass and clean the top of the bottle and cap it quickly. Coat the wraps while the PG is still thin . After a while it thickens up and does not release bubbles well on the first application. After the first coat the air should be pushed out of the treads and there should be no worry. Fred, Yup, Your right, I miss red His intent.I use I" foam brushes to coat an entire raw blank before wrapping. With PG of course. What threw me was the fact that He's using PG and bubbles.I just assumed He was coating a blank. Dennis J. Danku (Sayreville,NJ) Re: BEST BRUSH FOR APPLYING PERMAGLOSS?

Dennis And Fred,
Thanks so much for the good info! Going to try some permagloss again, I just want to do it right this time. I've learned tons on rodbuilding.org Respectfully, Craig Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
