tiger wrap blue or aqua metallic on top?

I got blue and aqua metallic on the bottom for a tiger wrap, I am in a fix on what to put on top, should I go with a light or dark color on top? does anyone know what would bring out the colors the best? I read that a white thread on top would be hidden more and the bottom colors would show through better. I know I should tested a wrap first to see what color would be better, but to late for that , lol! I already got the blue and aqua met. on the bottom.

Using two closely related colors on the bottom means that you're most likely already limited to a more subtle effect. It's the contrast on the bottom that determines how subtle or striking the overall effect will be. The top thread determines the overall color.

To get the most out of any combination, burnish the bottom layer as irregularly as you can.

With that said, it would be better for me to go with a blue or dark blue. since the top thread will determine the overall color, with the lighter color aqua showing through, so a dark blue would be best with that?

Lorenzo, I guess the next question would be what do you want the overall color of the rod to be? If it were me I might try a wild move and use a silver metallic size a as the top wrap. That said it will give an overall lightening of the rod colors. Other than that I have no idea of what color you could use to finish the tiger. Make sure you let me know what you decide on.

Well Bob! The last coat of epoxy is now drying, I was going for the neon blue,in nylon, but I read what you said about the silver met. then i though about what Steve Cox wrote that i shoudn't use metallic on top, cause it would not let the shine of the metallics on the bottom to show through, maybe a silver in a nylon? ow white, or black, I just can't make up my mind, if you have ant other suggestions please let me know, lol! it's getting to where i feel like just putting any color on there!

I can understand getting to that point. I'm very new to the tiger. I just finished my first one. Bottom colors were metallic black and gold with a white top layer. It actually came out pretty good.

I think that a neon blue would look good. Mainly I was trying to suggest a color or option that would allow for it to brighten or pop the bottom colors. Without seeing what that color is exactly, I would believe that should fit the bill. Actually a neon color on top could be very interesting.

I think black or any other dark colors like that would mute the colors underneath, but I also think that would be affected by the diameter of the top thread. I wish I could give you more help but at this point it's way above my skill level. At this point I'd probably be flipping a coin.

Good luck, I'm very curious.

Well Bob, I tried the Silver met. and I could not see any of the wrap underneath, it just took over teh whole effect, looked like nothing but the silver, so i redid it and tried the aqua it had th effecy but reallt way to subtle, so i redid that,Lol! nbeen on that rod lathe all day, thats ok I had nothing else to do it was kinda fun , anyway, I finaly tried the white nylon, it came out really good! so I'll be using teh white, I'll try to put a pic of it when I am done. on the photo section. Lol! i got a lot of experience on them tiger wraps, just in one day! lol!

Man I'm sorry I even mentioned silver now! I'll be interested to see the pictures. I have another rod to build soon, and I really want to play with some colors for a tiger wrap. Do you happen to have pictures of the other 2 you changed from? Those could be just as valuable as a learning tool. Guess when the guys here say use white, there's no doubting their experience.

Glad it came out well.
