Curing time question

How long do you wait in between coats of finish. I'm looking to do 2 thin coats and was wondering how long to wait in between ie 24, 48 hours. I'm using AFTCO finish.

Also how long should the finish cure before the rod is used for fishing.

Thanks,

Matt

I normally wait until the finish is no longer tacky, 6-10 hours, depending on the environment, then do another coat if desired. I have read that you shouldn't wait more than 24 hours if you intend to use another coat. I never do and it's always worked for me. If you have to wait more than 24 hours, you'll have to scuff & clean the finish before the next coat, this is to make sure the different coats bond.
Just what I've learned on here and works for me... :)

At room termperature, your window for recoating is from a few hours to 3 days. Anything done within that time requires no additional surface prep.

You can apply another coat as soon as the first is not so tacky that you disturb it with the recoat.

Thanks

If you've kept it in a warm place, room temperature, you can fish it in about 3 days.
