Well I am getting around to building a new Crig rod after busting the prior rod I had built for that purpose. Previously I had used blue zirc #6 double footed guides due mainly to the color choices for the themed rod. Well I was just about to put the guides on and thought about using micros instead. The only rods I have used micros on so far are 'med - med/lt' crankbait and light worm rods, and I really like them there, but I am not zipping around 1oz weights plus bait on them.

For those that regularly build with micros would you hesitate to use #4 runners and tip on a C-rig rod?

My CRig rod has 3s.

Spiral or standard?

All the Crigs I have built lately on the Castaway BB1 are wearing #4's on top without a problem.

3's standard for me. ditto on the bb1 too

Three's will work great.
I suggest staying with a 6mm tip.
With a tendency to wind the swivel into the tip, the extra structure will help prevent damaging it.

I use 3s and 4s on top for my heavier sticks for frogs and c rigs although I'll occasionally spiral if the client prefers.

You don't need to worry about colors, you can get them in micros if you are willing to wait for them! I have seen some of the black and gold ones that Steve has on his personal rods and they are SWEET. I have procured some of thos as well as some black framed blue insert models for my personal sticks.

I'm like the other guys. MB845, BB1, and BB2 (and a pool cue I'm working on!) all have Fuji K 4's. I agree with Steve about the 6mm tip. A 1oz worm weight can fold a micro tip over if your not careful. I spiral all my worm and jig rods. I start with a 5.5mm double foot, then 5mm single, then all 4's. I had to remove a couple guides due to the wraps getting contaminated recently. I'm still scratching my head over that one, but I had trouble getting them off since they were stuck so well. The Fuji K's allow the finish to get all the way under the guide foot. Couple that with 2 Forhan locking wraps and the guide is not coming off. I have yet to have any guide failures. I like the K's for a couple reasons - they won't tangle when using braid and the tangle-free design reinforces the frame and makes them stronger. The only thing I haven't experimented with is passing a knot. I normally fish 17-20# Fluorocarbon on my carolina rig.

If you allow me to go off on a tangent I need to rant just a little. Fluorocarbon is more sensitive than mono, but is stretches just as much!

hmm, so is it possible come ICRBE the blue insert micros would be generally available?

I have used Micro’s in:
Black-“H” ring
Black-Tin gold ring
TiCh-PVD TiCh ring
TiCh-Tin gold ring
TiCh-Chameleon ring
Frost-Zirconium ring

Yes all on top. I don't believe in spirals on bass rods (except maybe TRUE flipping rods)- but that is another story.

I think there may be some expanded guide offerings in the works for next year - high quality stuff that really pops. Or so a birdy told me.

I am not too sure if they will be there on hand but I do know that I have dealt with Karen at Bingham, Scott at Fishsticks and Ron at Schnieders in getting the colored micros... I had to make a minimum order of 25 of the sizes I requested and I believe it took about 4-5 weeks for them to arrive but I assure you they are worth every second of the wait! Give anyone of these folks a shout and they will be able to help you out. I almost forgot, Mike @ Rileys Rods has the TiCh-Chameleon's., those were at the show last year ... they are pretty darned nice too!!!!
