or are titanium guides to light that i can barely feel them?

I'm trying to determine my guide spacing for simple spiral on my NFC MB663 blank, and after taping on the guides, it just feels like there's not much weight there?

guide setup: my tip is TFST 5.5 (2.0) , followed by TLSG6 x 6 and butt guide is TLNSG10. spacing from tip , 5in,5in,5in,6in,6in,6.5in,11in, 20in to reel. i will be testing out using a LSG6 or LSG7 as the bumper guide..

Any comments on the guides? i cant get anything smaller then 5.5/6 in Singapore. i will be using a Shimano Conquest 50, and i am actually wondering if i can bring down the butt guide to TLNSG8. I will be using 6lb braid and intend to cast lures at the lower end of the rating for the rod..

Provided they'll hold up and do the job, lighter is better. Why would you want to "feel" them? The less they reduce or impair the blank's speed in reaction and recovery, the better.

i don't want to 'feel' them, but it's the first time i've used titaniums.. and i am pretty amazed at the weight, or lack of it

and boy , do they eat into the aluminium oxide stone on the dremel..

Bill, what are what?

Phil/Andrew, sadly, the smallest TLSG i can get are only 6, and 5.5 for LSG or CLSG, unless i ordered those online. That being said, my leader knot is those that are used in "Japanese jigging" . The PR of FG knots have a very small 'profile', note very much bigger that the thickness of the leader itself and can past through most guides very easily.

I checked on how to tie the FG knot, and I think that the fish I'm after will be much larger by the time I get it down to where I can tie it relatively quickly and reliably. I think I'll stick with the Albright, which is pretty small, much smaller than the double uni, easy to do correctly, and very reliable for all line combinations I've tried. I've concluded that for micros, I'll just stick with mono or braid without leader knots going through the guides.

go with what works..

i have had high numbers of leader snagging onto a guide during casting, regardless of guide size, with a number of leader knots.. even size 10 guides get snagged while casting 12# mono with 50#leader on a 12.5 ft Silstar rod..
