How to make a "swelled butt"??

I was browsing through the photo gallery and noticed that several rods have a "swelled butt" (where the blank meets the foregrip). I love the effect and don't really understand how it's done. Can anyone tell me how to go about doing this? Much appreciated in advance, John.

At the end of the fore grip there is a tapered little ramp ? Looks like a - winding check.

John,
The replies are right on.
But just for your education =-
When you use the word swelled butt with respect to rod building, a person is normally speaking of the increase in diamter of the rear grip as it gets close to the rear of the reel seat. The idea of a swelled butt, is that the larger diameter and shaped grip tends to fill the inside of a fishermans palm as he / she fishes. i.e. the swelled butt style grip tends to be less tiring to fish and also give the fisherman more control when fishing.

Thanks Roger. I am still learning the terminology as I expand my ability to try new things and appreciate the clairification.

There's swelled butts and then there are swelled butts. Swelled butts on grips and swelled butt blanks. The latter found on bamboo fly rods. Just FYI.

If it is the winding check you are thinking of you can get the cheep rubber ones and coat them with tinted finish for the color you want. Just be careful of getting finish on the fore grip.
