Looking at AMTK Virtus guides for a blackfish rod. Casting, and want to put single foot guides ( less wrapping ) as the runners. 50 -80 lb rod
Think they will last ? Strong enough ? Thinking of 8's. Forhan locking wrap Thanks Bill - willierods.com Re: Single foot on top

I'd probably go double foot if you are fishing party boats and tossing fish on the deck. Otherwise I couldn't see a 50-80 rod for such a small fish.
I like the virtus lite guides a lot and would use them for 50 but move to the heavies for 80. Russ in Hollywood, FL. Re: Single foot on top

I'll agree with Russell. I don't see the weight reduction as an issue on a rod as heavy as a 50-80. Don't forget to rig the sinker with much lighter line - yes you will lose a lot of sinkers, but if you rig with a three way swivel and 15lb sinker dropper, you save the rest of the rig and the expensive braid.
