Alex,
I don't register rod blanks under customer's names. No reason to, they're not the ones who will be doing the repair work. In the event of a broken rod, they would be more of a middle man and hinder the process. Why the big concern about this? Does is really bother you that much to think that Mudhole might mail something to one of your clients? If you're that concerned about it, give them a call. All you've done so far is speculate, you don't even know for sure if they are mailing things out in this manner or not. jeremy Re: Blank Registration

No concerns here. If they have to sign up for an account to register the blank, that tells you all you really need to know. They appear no different than you or I.
I resign. Enjoy. Please email me your customer lists - my email is posted. Thanks! ----------------- AD Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 12/14/2010 12:13AM by Alex Dziengielewski. Re: Blank Registration

IMO, it is simple ... register a blank using your parent's name and address. The same can be done with a sibling, your best friend, a coworker, etc.. IF they get nothing over the next few months - you have your answer. IF they call you saying they did receive a flyer, catalog or postcard from Mud Hole - you have your answer as well.
Clean, cheap, effective research ... nothing is quite like it. Except for maybe guerilla marketing. Re: Blank Registration

I figured the whole point of registering the blanks for warranty was to build or add to their mailing list. No surprises there. But like others have said if you do not wish your customers to receive mailings from MH, just register the blank under your name and address. After all, you are the one purchasing it from them. If your customer has a warranty issue you would almost surely want him to work through you in getting a replacement, rather than trying to do something on his own. That's how you keep him as a loyal and valuable customer. Re: Blank Registration

Who bought the blank? That's who should register the blank.
Think of it this way... I go take my car to a repair shop to get the brakes replaced... The brakes come with a warranty from the manufacturer, and I don't get to register the brakes so your clients shouldn't need to register. With the rod, who's doing the work, repair and who will be dealing with the company to replace the blank? You are... just register it in your name with your address and don't worry about it. They aren't trying to steal customers from you, just know who's buying their products... Re: Blank Registration

Bryan,
Why on earth would they want to "know who's buying their products" if the person buying the blank isn't registering the blank. Think about it. They already know who's "buying their products". They know exactly who I am and where I live because they charge my credit card and ship it to me. What they want to know is who is buying my product and frankly that's none of their business. As Bill notes, it's obvious why they want my customer to register the blank, so they can add him to their mailing list. No thanks, I'll pass. TC Thomas Cayman - AKA Robert Russell ROBERT M. I have registered blanks with 3 of the top makers in the industry and have received no emails or catalogs from them, and have no evidence that they are doing anything but registering the blank. Regarding Mudhole, I have bought from them a lot and have no evidence that they have done anything with my name and address other than use it to get the shipment to the right place. The emails and catalogs I do receive, I have requested. I think this whole issue with the blank makers and magor suppliers is a wasted worry. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
