Im looking for a parabolic blank to use for flipping 3/8 oz jigs with a trailor. Line will be 20lb floro.
Anyone built on this blank? Do you think it has the backbone to get a solid hookset with single hook baits? Re: MHX CB907 as a Flipping Rod

I wouldn't use it for that.
Traps, deep cranks, some swimbaits... ok. ----------------- AD Re: MHX CB907 as a Flipping Rod

Ditto what Alex said.
If I were building that rod , I would probably use the Castaway BBI blank. It also makes a great Carolina Rod. J.B.Hunt Bowling Green, KY Re: MHX CB907 as a Flipping Rod

I would guess the reason you want a parabolic action flipping stick is to keep the fish from pulling off of the hook while you're fighting them.
A fast or mod-fast rod is better for getting the fish out of cover quickly, and once they're in open water for the "fighting" part of things, use your drag or do like I do and push the free-spool as needed to control surges. (I've used the free-spool method for years to fight large fish and have since read that Rick Clunn also does it, and he seems to have done ok!) Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
