Marine Corp. desert digital camo rod?

I had a Marine call me today and wants me to try and build him 15 rods with the marine desert digital camo pattern on the blank. He travels the country helping out the injured Marines and has a boat wrapped with this camo and wants the rods to match. Does anyone know how I would go about getting this camo pattern put on some blanks?

Thanks
Bobby

You could do it with a "wrap." But you'd add a lot of weight. Why not try a different approach?

Instead of doing the whole rod, dedicate a section of the rod, perhaps where you'd normally put a decorative wrap, to that pattern. That would allow you to use any blank you choose and make your own decal/sticker upon which you print the camo pattern and then apply to the rod in that area. Dress it up with some trim wraps and/or the person's name and you should have a nice and very unique rod.

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to put in a link, so I won't. Do a search with these keywords, Water Transfer Printing / Hydrographics, and you will see there are many places who do this.
It's not overly expensive, and is very durable. The best part, is that it is virtually weightless.
I have had a few firearms coated with this method, tough stuff. It will conform to any shape, so a fishing rod would be very easy to do.

There are many patterns to choose from, including all the digital camo patterns.

Bobby Have the guy take a picture of His Camo boat and send it to you. Now on the Butt section take those colors and do a marbleizing job in those colors Make the pattern about the same length as you wold a weave or thread art pattern. Now for the wrapping thread go to a sewing shop or a Micheal's Craft store. I am sure they have a Camo colored thread. Just do not get cotton or Rayon thread (those threads frizz). You would also have to put CP on the thread because most sewing threads have a silicon covering so the can be used in a sewing machine

Good Wraps Bob

Bobby,

Checkout liquidprintone.com they have the digital camo you are looking for. You just need a good photo of the color the customer has on his boat.

Tight lines,

John

Ask your Marine friend to get you a bunch of uniform buttons. They look great when epoxied into the butt cap. Hooah!
