NCP and color preserver advice

I just finished a butt wrap then added color preserver prior to the tie off to hold things in place. The problem is a boat load of threads stretched out of shape and I don't know why. I'm wondering if it may have been from massaging threads into place. My layout was off a bit so I had to work the threads more than I like.
Any thoughts? Phil Re: NCP and color preserver advice

My thoughts are you did not wrap or pack tight enough. if your wraps are too loose they will be distorted in a manner you not thought possible. I also feel too much CP will cause it too. It is better with two or three thinner coats than one heavy coat.
I know it is discouraging cause I recently had the problem also. Bill Ohio Rod Builders Canton, Ohio Re: NCP and color preserver advice

I had the same problem on my first few and more tension on the thread when wrapping took care of it.

I think this wrap is about the same as others I've done but maybe not. I'll tighten up a little and see what happens. Phil Re: NCP and color preserver advice

This same thing happened to me on a tiger wrap on my last build. I laid a base layer of white and black, sacrificed the black and used the green from the blank. The I laid a nylon gold loosely for the top layer of the tiger and applied the CP. I came back a few mintues later and all the gold was bunched up. I seperated them them best I could but left a few just to see what the effect would be, and it gave off a semi-cool camo effect in the wrap. But I know now to lay them a little tighter when using the nylons. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
