Im building a striper rod and am interested in using an exposed reel seat. However, I have seen an exposed seat give up and turn on a anglers before. The Fuji ACS 17 says it is ribbed. Are the ribs long enough to make up for arbors and is there enough epoxy to have a strong lasting bond?

I have used the ACS seats for Redfish rods and have landed plenty of 30lb plus Red's using the same seats and have never had any customers tell me that the reel seats have come lose. Just make sure you are using a quality rod bond and you should be good to go.

Ribbed or not ribbed the key to secure assembly is thin glue lines (between blank / filler and filler / reel seat)

I would add to prep the inside of the seat and the outside of the area where it will be glued.

The singlest largest and main reason that reel seats turn is very simple.
Not enough glue in the right place.

When ever gluing a reel seat in place, I make a point of insuring that I have a liberal application of glue covering all of the surface where the rod will be glued.

I also start with the reel seat a good distance up the blank, and coat that portion of the blank quite liberally with glue. Then, due to the smaller size of the blank at that point, the reel seat easily slides over the liberal glue area, and then one can spin the reel seat around a couple of times, as well as working the reel seat up and down the blank a couple of times to insure that you have a good coating of glue on the inside of the reel seat, as well as the liberal coating of glue on the blank itself.

When you then slide the reel seat into its correct area, you now have a very smooth even layer of glue between the reel seat and the blank.

After doing this style of gluing, I have never had a reel seat turn on any rod.

Often, I see in videos, and other builders, where they will put a couple of dabs of glue on the blank, slide down the reel seat, orient the reel seat and call it good. I have also seen some of these "glue dab glued" reel seats turn and come loose.

A bit more glue in the correct locations eliminate the problem.
