Hi everyone.. very new to this site and to rod building, I would like to know how you all do a "static test" I presume thats setting out the guides before any wrapping is done.? Well, my problem is doing it, or rather should i say trying to do it on ultralight single foot rollers without them spinning around whilst doing a line touch test under drag/pressure. tried masking tape, not good enough, tried rubber bands, not good enough. can someone enlighten me...
Cheers. Re: Placing of ultralight rollers

On the heavier FW rods I've built, I tie a seperate line to the tip and use that to apply the drag/pressure to flex the blank. Once the blank is flexed, light tension on the line off the reel will give you the line path through the guides without moving them. I had the same problem with regular guides until I saw this tip one the board here. Give it a try. Re: Placing of ultralight rollers
