Does anyone have a clue what is used for the razor thin, dark (black) trim rings on this grip?

I have made some cool ones by going to the automotive parts store and getting gasket material. They have several diffferent colors.

The model train people use and sell this material from Evergreen [www.hobbylinc.com] . I see it measures .010" thick, I'm not sure what size is used on this grip, but this is much thinner than the veneers and credit card material that I've been using. The veneers that I have been using are a little over .030" so this would be 1/3 the thickness that is in the grips I've been using.

Plastic bottles (bleach, laundry soap, plastic coffee cans, etc) work great! Cut all the flat surfaces out with a box cutter and go to town! My wife buys laundry supplies according to the color that I'm low on

If I don't want to, I don't have to and nobody can make me (except my wife) cuz I'm RETIRED!!

If you don't mind the weird looks do some dumpster diving. And it's free.

No problem there, Bill, my dumpster diving started at an early age! LOL.
