Looking to get a St.Croix blank(s) in the 8' length range, SCII or III type and I need your oppinion about them please. Are they good blanks? light(er) than other brands in the same power/size? straight(er) than other? Looking at those two models:
2C80XHF
3C80HF
Let me know please. Thanks.

Danny,
Generally speaking, St. Croix blanks are of excellent quality.
You can check the specifications on a particular blank of interest from their web site:

stcroixrods.com

click on - rod building - and then click on blanks.

Take care
Roger

The majority of my personal arsenal is built on St Croix stock, mostly SC3 blanks.

Excellent , honest weight blanks.
Good finish, good straightness.
Not the lightest, not the strongest, but not he most expensive.
My first choice.

Thanks guys. I have looked at ALL the rod specs (except fly) and chose the two mentioned above. If you would chose, which brand(s) are lighter, straighter, more backbone (in raport with length and size) than the two mentioned above? Thanks.

Lighter = St Croix 5C70HF
Straighter = None
Stronger = St Croix 5C70HF

It just comes down to economics, which do you want to pay for. IMO, the St Croix SC3 series is a GREAT value ... but you aren't wasting money by moving up to the SC5 series.

It seems from my experience and recollections of others over the years that many feel the SCIII is a sweet spot for value and performance. I believe that like many things, as you keep adding money to your blank purchases, your incremental return keeps getting smaller. And SCIII seems to be considered a sweet spot.
