Why doesn't responses move the thread back to the top?

No big deal but on all of the other forums I view, if a response is given to a particular thread, that thread moves back to the top of the list - keeping the discussion active. Just wondering if that's a pricey forum feature or if dying a natural death is the preferred ending to the posting here? Re: Why doesn't responses move the thread back to the top?

The post are kept alive. All you have to do is go to the top right of the page and click on the previous or next button. It will take you right to where you want to go. This is a fast moving forum, and the best around as far as I can tell. I personally like it this way better.

We tried it that way and it caused topics to belabor and push newer topics down out of view. We have too much traffic here for that and it didn't work well.
If you will check the box asking that you be kept informed of any new replies, you'll find that few topics "die" and many continue to receive replies for days on end. The form will automatically notify you when any particular topic has received a new reply and allow you to go right to it from there. .................. It all boils down to this rodbuildingnsite has more traffic than any other. Some posts get going and stay going(usually when the infamous Mr. Stevens gets involved). There is more information on this site that is is hard to keep up sometimes. I find it necessary to reread some posts just to get it into my thick mind. The conduct on many of them makes you wonder about the actual ages of the users on them. Some are worse than a junior high school lunch room. There are a few good rod building forums out there. I like this one just the way it is. I can always go back a page or two to see if any of the other topics have been replied to. Most run their natural course in a day or two. I would rather see fresh new topics at the top of the page each morning. Just my .02. Re: Why doesn't responses move the thread back to the top?

Tom, Is there a way to have a "new topic button". When you log in you can hit "new" and it will show you "all" of the new topics or new replies since the last time you were on? I am a member of a Walleye Fishing forum and there are 2 buttons one for NEW and one for ACTIVE (if there was something recent that you are loking for). Just a thought t -------------------------------- tom in indy Re: Why doesn't responses move the thread back to the top?
