This is a pic of my first decorative wrap.....obviously nowhere near the kind of work I have seen here but I am trying to get better. I would welcome any constructive input you guys may give that would help me do better next time. One thing that i found was that the wrap was closing down on me too soon. I laid it out at 3/4 inch ....roughly equal to the diameter of the blank. the pattern called for a few more passes of yellow before the black finish but I felt there was no more room so I stopped. Was it laid out wrong?/ Should I have let it close down? I know it is loose in places and skewed a little but I think that comes with experience. Thanks in advance for your responses. I'm just starting to dabble in decorative wraps, and I would be thrilled if my first one looked half as good as that. Re: Diamond Wrap....comments please

Not bad for a first try! A little more packing and burnising will help with the gaps.
It will get better with practice! Re: Diamond Wrap....comments please

Joe, looks great if that is your first attemp at it. more packing and burnishing til you feel comfotable then you may want to try going to 'C" and or even an "A" size thread. It packs tighter and will be less bulky.

If you are trying to close in the wrap I would say thats pretty ambitious for a first time decorative wrap. I think you did pretty good considering that. Re: Diamond Wrap....comments please

Well....thanks a bunch Guys....I feel better about my effort now.
John....thanks for the tip on thread size!! I think "less bulky" would be a big improvement. Joe Edited 3 time(s). Last edit at 10/26/2010 09:47AM by Joe Willsen. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
