If you use a seat with no forgrip what do you guys use to fill in the front? Can I color some epoxy and just pour that in the front and smooth it over? does anyone make anything that is custom fit to fill that space? Re: filler for seat

That is exactly what most do. Some also use a rubber winding check. SK Custom Rods American Tackle Pro Staff Fish now, cause you'll be dead for a long time. Re: filler for seat

Lots of guys create expoxy ramps that turn out real nice.
Another great option are aluminum winding checks. Bill and Al at Midwest Rod and Reel, one of the sponsors to the left, have them available. [www.midwestrodandreel.com] I also turn my own from acrylic pen blanks or wood. Thanks, Chad Huderle Huderle Custom Rods Prior Lake, MN Edited 1 time(s). Few ideas:
Thread wraps when there isnt a large difference in diameter Winding Checks (Vinyl or aluminum) O-Rings Butt caps drilled out epoxy ramps Matagi and Batson make some parts specifically for size 16 seat fronts. The vinyl check, ORing or butt cap method can be done plain, but rubber degrades over time. ORings or checks can be covered in rod finish to increase longevity. Aluminum checks don't always fit - especially on small diameter blanks as their OD is not the same as a 16 seat - but use a black arbor and it can look decent. Thread wrap can give just enough coverage and build that you can use rod finish to ramp up to the edge if the distance isn't great. ----------------- AD Re: filler for seat

You can also use one of the high density graphite foam arbors (Pac Bay) reamed to fit the blank and flush with the seat. After that, just coat with epoxy ... paint first, if you prefer. Re: filler for seat

I use seats that fit the blank so there is no void to fill, cut excess threads off and taper to cut end to give it a finished look Re: filler for seat

I found some neat stuff to use for that and even on the areas of a split grip. I get some polyphenylene or nylon bars. It turns so easy. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
