Guide Replacement

Hi there,
I have some rods I use for crankbaits and jerkbaits.
I want to upgrade to microguides.
My questions are:

- Do you replace the tip to a micro size? Does it matter or can I leave the existing tip?
- Should I keep the guide closest to the reel on the rod and remove and replace the rest of the guides?

Thanks everyone for your help

while you can most certainly replace all the guides including tip
My suggestion would be to leave the tip and the stripper guide. or down size the stripper to a 5 or 6mm guide.

Questions please:

What kind of rod do you have?

Production or custom, casting or spinning, all on top or spiral

If it is a production rod with normal size guides do you intend to remove the existing guides and place the "micro guide" in the same place?

Have you done a search on this forum for "M$M Volume" with date range set to all? If not please spend the time to go back and take a look - start with M&M Volume 1 Time Well Spent

What micro guides (size and brand) - do you already have them or will need to order.

A little more information will be helpful to all.

Nick,

i agree with Bill, need more information in order to help you. For instance if the rods are for cranking they are typically softer and if they are casting rods you will definitely need more guides. Help us help you, more info please.

Tight lines,

john

The rods are production rods.
I intend to remove the guides and wrap micros myself.
I do not plan on replacing guide for guide with micros. I will static test and probably use one or two more then the production set up.
I do not have the guides yet. These rods are my own rods. I am just about to wrap up for the season (living in Canada has its negatives! lol)

I will search and review the info under M&M vol 1. I have reviewed it in the past but not with a lot of detail.

If you need more info from me let me know! Thanks!
