In out pattern

Building my 3rd rod and need some help laying out the pattern. I would like to do an"in -out" pattern. Actually an in-, out+ pattern. I thought I understood the layout from Billy's book and I must have layed it out wrong because it just ended up looking like a big diamond. Not sure that finished photos will help but if anyone can help with the "template" of the layout or any step by step pictures that would really help.

Thanks
Jim

By the way I am registered here and it will not let me look at the pics....says I have to register. But I am and I am logged in. Must be just the way my luck is going lately

Thanks anyways. I will let you know what happens when I try to re-do it

If you had 2 diamonds with different colors and a star in the middle of one of the diamonds, then that is what the pattern is supposed to look like. I just VisualWRap'd it now.

Okay I registered so I could see the photos. Thanks for the advice there

Billy, I studied the pattern in your book and realized where I went wrong with my layout...I think. So last night I laid it out as 2 diamonds and started a practice wrap on a blank tube just to see if I had it right. Once I finish the practice wrap I will post a pic. It's messy because I am not packing as I just want to see if the layout and sequencing is correct. But yes, my layout basically looked like 2 diamonds side by side. The only thing is I would not call it a star in the middle of one of the diamonds as it's just one exposed thread

I am glad you said what it looks like....that makes me feel like I am on the right track with this. My 1st attempt was with only 1 diamond so my layout was wrong

OK, I apologize, I was looking at the In- In- pattern when I made my last response. I went and VisualWRapped the pattern you are wrapping and posted it in the photo gallery here: [www.rodbuilding.org] That's what you should end up with. Plase post pics of the layout, thn after you made a couple of passes - do not pack, just snap th pic and post it or e-mail m directly and wait until I answer, this way you'r not wasting time if you ar going in the wrong direcion.
