snake skin on handle

Have used snake skins on several rod but always as butt decorations, I've used wrapping epoxy to finish it, now I'm wanting to do a handle. What do you use for a finish over the skin on a handle or fore grip? Has anyone tried Perma gloss on snake skins?

I`ve been wanting to do a snake skin handle also and I might on my next build. I will not use Perma Gloss. I don`t think you would be happy with the results as it is far too thin in my opinion. I am going to use Thread Master lite with two applications.

If you try it please share the results

I do a small bit of snake skin inlays on the blanks but never on a handle. I'll watch this thread with interest. This will be no simple task. I cant Imagen what finish it will take to hold up to the abuse of rings, finger nails, sand on the hands or just plain old boat rash. and keep from scratching to the point you cant make it out. Skin handles would look cool

The reason I brought up Permagloss is I use it all the time on wood and cork and it is one thing that will hold up to almost any wear. This will be a combination wood and skin handle probably wrap the skin on wood and cap with some exotic wood. Guess i'l make up a pice of wood covered with snake skin and give it a test.
