The Guderrod 911 CP The one that was highly liked . But was also not - consistent - in how it was from bottle to bottle . What are you using ? Bill - willierods.com Re: 911/cason's CP

I believe that was 811 and there were at least two versions of that.

it was 811, and having tested Cason's CP I like it better than 811. I also didn't care for the "gel" texture of 811 and I especially didn't like it when the 811 formula was apparently changed. Re: 911/cason's CP

Two versions of Casons preserver is on the market. A water based and a solvent based. Buy a bottle of each and test for yourself. Simple as that. Re: 911/cason's CP

Bill, if it helps I tried it yesterday and can offer this much. My inital reaction was it reminded me of clear nail polish:)
It has a smell and heavier than water nature like nail polish. Small guide wraps near the end of the rod are back to normal color in around 5 minutes so you know if you have a problem ASAP. Smaller guides came out perfect. The two largest probably needed a third coat or my packing isn't what I thought. Scarlet thread over a dark grey blank is a little tough and we are taking a sliver of darkness beside the guide foot where the thread doesn't contact the blank. Might be good to mask around wraps if you value neatness as it is hard to wipe off the blank afterwards. I thought it handled great and was very nice overall. No milky, cloudy, or little flakes problems. You knew right away if there was going to be a problem with color or tension. You could recoat in an hour or two as it dries nice and quick. I'd say splurge and buy a bottle. I'd like to hear your impressions. Russ in Hollywood, FL. Re: 911/cason's CP

I tested both formulas on a brown thread over a gold underwrap. I was not impressed by either . At the same time I teated the Chromaseal and that had the best color retention . Just my opinion from the tests I did on a build. Will no doubt try it again. Freddwhy (Rapt-Ryte) Re: 811/cason's CP

The reason Cason's Crystal Clear came to being was Gudebrod's changing of their 811S color preserver which I and others thought was the best CP
available at the time. The original solvent based product testing was done along side some of the 811S that folks still had before comparing to other Mfgr's. If you liked the old version of Gudebrod's 811 CP I'm sure you will be even happier with the solvent based Cason's Crystal Clear CP Raymond Adams Eventually, all things merge, and a river runs through it..
