Hi folks,

I'm looking to get started as a custom rod builder, and hopefully I'll be doing a range of UK Beach / Boat initially and may move onto Salt Water fly rods in the future, I'm based in the North East of Scotland - all hints and tips gratefully accepted; this place is a mine of info.

As per an article in the current Rodmaker issue...

Buy books!

I don't think the magazine ships overseas but there suppliers in the sponsor section of this forum that can send you the best books available. The library and search functions on this site will likely be your best friends for a while. And ask questions if you hit a snag. Welcome and GOOD LUCK!

Hi Martyn,

Welcme to our world of leagal crack. The only thing that will limit you is your imagination. Make sure to practice on old rods that you ca experiment on and learn what works best for you. As mentioned above books and CD are great forms of information and inspiration. We all started from scratch and have many years of sweat and tears, so ask all the questions you can. Have a blast and once again welcome.

Tight lines,

JH
