Is there a way to color the Eva foam handles. Every color I purchased does not match the Navy thread that I am using. Is there a die that is water proof?

I have never heard of anything that works. It IS after all,a closed cell foam. ;) you could coat with epoxy that has been tinted with matching pigment.

You can also use cork seal it, wrap with -D - of your color Cp Then finish over it

It will add weight to it

Spray paint it Then finish for a little protection

THe truth is nobody sits there and compares colors to that degree. If it's off by a little bit nobody is going to complain or say you're are a hack. however, if you color the surface of the foam with a dye or marker and the grip begins to wear out, or the dye rubs off on the fishermans' hands, they will say those things.

Do they make pigments you can add to foam that you make that will color it to get what you want ?
I'm talking about that stuff you buy in raw materials that you mix to get a foam that you put in a mold like a tube to get a handle in a raw unshaped material. I believe the article was in Rodmaker. Making foam grips for the graphite skins that cover it. I don't recall any coloring agents about it though.

I colored one with a pigment that I use for marbling mixed with epoxy. It looks great. I have another sample that I did with the thread and it is currently drying. The pigment look great but how will it stand up to constant "fish hands". Should I put permagloss over it?

The coloring of the foam I'm talking about would go into the making of the foam from a two part mix that is used to make the foam that is poured into a mold to make it in the first place. I gotta find that recent Rodmaker article that shows how to make foam handle material and see if there is further info to add coloring agents to it when being made from the two part mix. The color would be retained throughout the foam no matter what happens to it later. It would be the same color inside as well as outside, and uniform throughout.
