finally joined here after reading the forums for the past few weeks. just wanted to thank everyone for the wealth of information offered here. i have already armed myself with all the basic reading material i think i need for now(Tom's book, as well as 2 of Mr.Clemens, and Billy V's). after practicing a few wraps on dowels i went out and bought a closeout E-GLass blank and as soon as my dryer gets here i will be finishing my first build. pics to come soon.

Thanks Again and looking forward to learn as much as possible

Welcome aboard, Tommy. I have been building rods since the late 70's and many times I told myself that I was going to quit this hobby. I just received an XP845 blank from Lance at Swampland Tackle. So you see, I haven't quit yet. You will get a lot help from the sponsors and from fellow rodbuilders. I was looking for a special blank and called Karry Batson of Batson Enterprises and he led me to this blank. What a fine piece of equipment. I can't wait to tie it up. This one will have a flounder weave on it.

Cheers, Ellis

Good luck on the first build Tommy!
Beware though, it's addicting!
