Butt wrap length.

I am in the process of wrapping my third butt wrap. first 2 where diamond wrap and i did 5 in long open wrap. I would like to do a closed wrap this time on a IP844. Wondering what length wrap most people wrap on a rod this size? I have marked off 150mm for now with butt diameter of 35mm, center 32mm, tip 30mm. Opinion on some patterns if i keep the measurements as is. I was leaning to a fish wrap.

I don't really use a set length. I just finished a firebird wrap on a 6' 6" casting rod and the decorative part of the wrap (minus the hook keeper area) is 155mm.

Alot of it depends on your wrapping abilities and the taper that is on the rod. If there is a really strong taper it might be hard to do a longer wrap. I just did a fish wrap on a ISB 822.5 that was 11 1/2" long. My first fish wrap was only 5" long.

WRap length is your choice. I usually make them 175-225mm, but have done a few as short as 125mm, and as long as 350mm. PAttern - you can do anythign on any sizeblank, depends on your skill. A Spider, St john's Cross, IronCross - will all be fine on that size blank. FIsh wraps is fine too - it's entirely up to you.
