Has anyone attempted a titanium nitride coating on the Recoil titanium snake and single foot wire guides in an attempt to reduce the noise factor ?
The coating will turn the guide golde but this might be viewed as an advantage. This coating has been used on carbide cutting tools with great success to increase the surface lubricity values and improve tool life. The hardness is also very high even if it's only a surface process. Will also have to check if it will flake or crack when the guide is flexed. I'll post results after the experiment. For those already utilizing the guides which if either do you feel is the noisiest ? Eugene Moore Re: Titanium wire fly guides

I have very little trouble with noise from REC single or double foot snake guides. The REC stripping guides are a different tune. Re: Titanium wire fly guides

Don't know is a coating would hold up with the flex properties of the material. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
