It's the same track, stands and thread carriage as the motorizied CPW. I've had my powered one for years and love it. Without power it won't provide any more or less benefit than any other handwrapper available fromBatson's or Pac Bay or another maker. But it does look nice and perform well.

my main intrest is in the thread carriage . am i right in thinking it slides along the length of the track? if so that alone would be a big plus over what i have now

I too have the motorized CPW, as said before really no advantage over the un powered Batson or Pac Bay wrappers. All have similar carriages and use the exact same aluminum track, though they are of different colors.

I would find out if the hand wrapper could be converted to a power wrapper at a later date.

Yes, it slides, hands free when turning under power, which is a big advantage. It get's a bit jerky if it's anything like mine....glue, tape, finish, etc. Housekeeping..ugh..

Mel ,
Look at the Angler's Workshop web site. In their paper catalog, they show a kit to upgrade to a power system. The kit is pretty pricey however. If their web site does not show the kit, just give Dave or John a call and ask. They are very helpful and always willing to help.
