Does anybody sell a 5'6" bass blank anymore? I'm partial to the Castaway blanks but I don't think they make anything under 6'6". I need to build 2 pistol grip bass blanks for fishing tight areas while providing a good chance for pinpoint accuracy at about 40-50ft, hence the short rod, using 10 - 14 lb mono and throwing anything from a texas rig worm to a Devil's Horse to a 1/2 oz. Snagless Sally (that's an inline spinnerbait for all the folks north of Biloxi). Need the pistol grip for making the roll cast and a pistol on a 6' blank will wear you out quick. I don't want to cut one down. My experience with cutting 6" off a blank is that it just about ruins all the action. All the 5'6" I'm finding are for spinning blanks rated at 2 -8 lb test like crappie or bream fishing. Any help?
Thanks. Re: 5'6" Bass Blank

I've made a few 5" and 5' 6" casting rods for a couple of customers. I don't remember exactly what blanks I used, but they were originally 6' Rainshadow casting blanks, with the length shortened from the butt. That doesn't affect the action much at all. Re: 5'6" Bass Blank
