I've got a burl cork grip that has one coat of Tru-Oil on it now. I'm thinking of giving it more of a glossy finish-any thoughts of using Lumi-Seal as a top coat or using any other product? Re: Lumi-Seal and Cork Grips

This year I used regular thread wrap epoxy with glitter mixed in over several coats of Tru-Oil on my own personal rod and one for my son-in-law. It finished up better than I expected but I cannot at this time comment on the durablilty as I broke my rod after about ten outings. Some how I snapped the tip end while loading in my rod locker. It will now become and extra fast 6'2" ML rod which I intend on using with one intention on seeing how the finish holds up. Ray Zarychta Glastonbury, CT Re: Lumi-Seal and Cork Grips

Dave, This is something I haven't tried with the LumiSeal. I wouldn't know why you couldn't. Let me know how it turns out. Thanks

Additional coats of Tru-Oil will give you what you want. The different between the Tru-Oil and something like the Lumaseal will be in the coloration. Tru-Oil is a bit amber whereas the Lumaseal is going to be perfectly clear.
While I'm not a fan of finish coverings over cork, it does make the cork a little firmer which will increase your casting ability and control. ............ Re: Lumi-Seal and Cork Grips

I put lumiseal over a burl cork grip on a rod I built for my dad. He loves it. If I can remember I'll take a picture of it this evening and post it up for you. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
