Has anyone used these on a heavy spinning rod? I am thinking 80# class line. Are the frames up to it? Re: American Tackle NIV Titan vrs TSVSG Guides

Hi Mel,
I won't recommend either of these guides for a couple of reasons. One, we have much better designed guides specifically for this type of application. And the TSVSG’s, not sure what they are good for,,,,,,,,, but you can guess why I can’t recommend these. The guides I would highly recommend would be our Titan Virtus heavies which are now available up to a 40mm ring size. They are absolutely the most durable saltwater guide in the heavy spin category and easily rated to 80# line. These guides offer: - Solid titanium frames lighter then stainless with increased flexibility and are 100% corrosion proof - Quad-leg frame design adding lateral stability with added strength - Ring Lock System focused on ring protection & eliminating ring loss using a deep press frame, pressure-fit and enlarged glue reservoir - Hard ultra smooth braid proof Nanolite rings I truly feel these guides are ideal for your intended use and hope you consider them. Hello Darrin. I have used the Virtus guides and they are indeed tough enough for the line size that I stated. However, I have only used them for conventional rods and not spinning. I will consider them but I was looking for a high frame design so that I can use a smaller ring size. I was hoping that with the use of titanium frames, one of these guides may be suitable but unfortunately they are not. Would it be possible to have the Virtus guide height of the sizes 25-30-40? I have size 20 and below. Thanks. Re: American Tackle NIV Titan vrs TSVSG Guides

Hi Mel,
I still think these guides are prefect for your spinning rod. They have a higher ring location then standard casting styles. I took some quick ring location measurements for the 25, 30 & 40mm guides: 25 = .75†(bottom) = 1.49†(top) 30 = 1.00†(bottom) = 1.92†(top) 40 = 1.18†(bottom) = 2.34†(top) Measured standing straight up from bottom of foot to ID of ring, both top and bottom ID. Hope this helps. Best Regards, Darrin Heim American Tackle Company Re: American Tackle NIV Titan vrs TSVSG Guides

Hello Darrin.
Thank you. This is exactly what I need. I will try the 27x guide placement tonight and see if the heights work. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
