I am using Pro Kote on my threads. It takes a long time to set up and dry. I have a rod wrapper and and a dryer, so I can have two rods going at one time. At what time can I remove a rod on which I have applied Pro Kote to some new threads from either the rod wrapper or dryer. I have been letting them run overnight, but perhaps I do not need to do that. I want to keep it turning so that it dries evenly...but on occasion I have another rod that needs attention and rather than waiting overnight, I might be able to get to that second rod sooner. Thanks for your thoughts on this matter.

You'll have to do a test - after coating a rod and putting it on your dryer, pay attention to the epoxy remaining in your mix cup. After a couple hours turn it on its side and let it sit that way for 20 minutes or so. Does it sag? If not, then you can turn off your dryer. My guess is that it will take about 3 hours to set to the point where you can turn off the dryer. But you'll have to try this little test at intervals to know for sure.

I think it will take longer than that! It sets up pretty slowly and I would rather err on the side of caution! I usually let mine go for 6-8 hours, but with the warmer weather and my shop in the 80's, it is good to go in around 5 or 6 hours. A lot will depend on the temperature of your shop! It stays pretty fluid and will sag for a while. For me, it takes longer than TM Lite to set up.

If you don't like it , go back to TM light ??

I haven't had any problems with removing it from the turner after 4 hours at around 74 F.

You can speed up the cure of any epoxy finish with a little heat. I have 4 clamp on lights with 100 watt bulbs above my dryer, they help a lot.

Sounds like you will need those lights in the winter time when it gets cold

I used it last week for the first time. I have to say that I was very impressed with the leveling and clarity, and a VERY LONG pot life. I turned for 6 hours at around 71 to be safe. I think 5 would have worked, but I set my timer for 6 to be safe. I think the longer set-up time was worth it because the finish looked flawless. I did discover on my second coat that I liked it even more if I let it sit about 10 minutes after I poured it onto foil before using it. It allowed it to thicken up a bit for my second coat. It is like having a lite-build and a medium build in one finish.

he says it drys a little slow in his Warm Shop, so I was thinking if the shop gets cold in the winter it will dry even slower ?? Guess he will have to use it too see .

Then again my TM takes about the same time to set.
