Hi,
It's time to build yet another fly rod so I'm looking for recommendations. Some details: 7 or 8 weight 9' < length < 9'6" 4 piece med fast < action < fast Ideally available from a Canadian source Money isn't too big of a problem but I don't want to go into the RX8+, Sage, Hardy, price range. The rod will be meant to go after bigger trout or maybe steelhead. I'd like about a 9' finished length but because I'm leaning towards a small fighting butt the requested length is a little odd. I'd appreciate any quick recommends on single foot guides (with inserts) as well. I hope that's enough info to get you started. Thanks Steve Re: Yet another request to find a blank

For a GREAT rod at a very reasonable price ... the new St Croix SC4/2 series paired with Fuji Alconite guides. Those blanks perform WELL above their selling price. You shouldn't have any trouble getting them in the GWN. Re: Yet another request to find a blank

+1 on the RX7's from Batson Enterprises, although the RX8's are worth every penny. They also list two distributors on Vancouver Island. The RX7's are available in 9' and 9'6" in the weights you are looking for. Comments on the guides?? Go for it, they look good, cast well and are a quieter than snakes. Guide weight difference on an 7 or 8 weight blank should not be a concern. If you are thinking of the Rainshadow blank, take a look at the ALPS recessed ring, single foot guides, tasty. Beulah is located in Oregon I believe. I don't know about outlets in Canada.
