Its all up to you. What ever looks good. Offshore rods with a short distance from the front grip to the stripper guide usually go past the guide but dont have to. Sometimes if the taper is quick the pattern will be hard to close as the offset spacing will be dramatic. Freddwhy (Rapt-Ryte) Re: butt wraps

Make it as long as you desire. The longer you make it, however, the more care you need to exercise in making it straight. Keep in mind that a simple, short wrap, done well, is far more impressive than a longer or more more complicated wrap done poorly.

But a long more complicated wrap done well is the pinnacle, lol. If oyu are just starting out make 4 or 5 repeats of the pattern. I see a lot of guys get frustrated doing super long wraps that takee forever to complete and they get turned off. Re: butt wraps

I`m doing a 3d chevron wrap on and offshore rod now that I just realized goes half way up the blank between the tip and the fore grip. It will get cut down but it adds to the challenge to keep it straight. Freddwhy (Rapt-Ryte) Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 06/18/2010 06:15AM by Fred Yarmolowicz. Re: butt wraps
