gudebrod size question

I was reading gudebrod sizes in nylon and what do the A, C, D mean ? well is the A size a very thin and the C, is a medium size and D size a large diameter and how will u do with 3 different size on blanks
for sample if u are building a ultra light to medium rod use A size ? if use medium to heavy use C size and if use a extra heavy to a saltwater or a swimbait or a musky use D size ?
can anyone use metalllic for trim and nylon to wrap a guide ? or can i use nylon as trim and use different color of nylon to wrap guide
what do u compare to regular nylon and NCP nylon ?
i'm still waiting for a friend to bring me his broke rods so i can test with old worm out guides wrap and use nylon and ncp nylon with finish coat see how both is doing
anyone have experince with both would be appericate to explain before i can trying it out

Josh,

I use A for almost everything, at least up to the very heavy saltwater stuff and you could probably get by even on them. I remember a prominent saltwater builder at the High Point show saying, in a seminar, that he uses size A for everything. And yes you can (at least I know I do) use metallic trim with nylon size A for the guide wrap. Next question I am not 100% sure what you mean, but I think yes you can use nylon as trim and a different color of nylon to wrap the guide. From what I understand, NCP nylon is larger than regular nylon, close to a size C? I may be wrong on that, but thats what I heard. I don't use it very much, but I am sure someone else will correct me if I am wrong.

Hope this helps.

NCP, letter size for size, is just slightly larger than the same size in regular nylon. At least this is true with regards to Gudebrod thread.

If you get on their website, or a dealers site you might see a chart with the actual thickness of each thread. C or D are good all purpose threads, for Metallics I like size A.
