How do you build a plug for the butt end of a "Tennessee type" cork handle for a spinning rod? Would prefer a cork plug. Any ideas?

You can sand a cork ring and mix the dust with some glue Pack it in the hole when dry sand it off.

Bill's method is as good as any. The old way was to use cork dust and Duco cement to form a paste and use that to fill the opening. When dry, sand the last ring face flat.

Generally if you install the grip so that it slides just past the blank butt, this method will pretty well cover things and not be at all obvious.

I use spent cartridge casings and punch plugs out of 1/4 inch thick cork. Head to your local shooting range and grab a 9mm 40 Cal 45 long colt and If you can find a 500. You can produce just about any size you need

You can also punch the firing cap out of a spent shell.
Use the shell’s sharp edge to punch out cork rings.
Then take a nail and push through hole left from firing cap to push cork back out of shell.
Perfect round plugs ready to go, different calibers provide different size plugs.

You may want to try a "butt plug"
It has a stem to fit up inside the cork or blank, comes in 3 sizes.
The larger side acts as a bumper to protect the cork.

Mark go to the local hardware store and pick up some cork stopper...that is how I plug them...works great
