Walt, Sanding EVA is a very easy chore if you have a way to spin it, such a in a lathe or with a drill set up and a mandrel which is supported at the opposite end. Start with a somewhat coarse grit sandpaper to begin the shape you are after and move to progressively finer grits to work toward your final shape and the smoothness you are after. This operation is rather messy, IE dusty, so plan accordingly to keep the mess contained and vacuumed up.

Walt,I do mostly EVA grips all of which I shape myself on a drill lathe and mandrel. Its very easy to shape.
Just make its spinning striaght before you start...If the mandrel is too small I normally shim it with masking tape for a tight fit.
I start with either 100 or 150 grit sandpaper in 5'' x 1.5'' strips and work the handle till Im satisfied.
I usually hit it with a quick 500 grit then take it off the mandrel .. wipe it clean with acetone and a rag....done!
