I have an extremely hard time lining up my roller tip top on rods with unibutts, if the tip is not in line with the reel seat on the unibutt it fouls up the rod. Of course the unibutts have the mating slot opposite to the vertical so you can't use it to sight on the tip. I've tried a laser but its has to be aligned perfectly. Surely there is an accuarte way to do this , please help this is driving me crazy. I have seen a sight that mounts on the reel seat, does anyone know where to get them or have any other ideas. I always mounted the unibutt to the ferruled rod to help me line up the tiptop. You can put a nail or dowel in the unibutt gimbal nock to use as a sort of gunsight to align the tiptop.

Hi Tom
I do mount the butt and even use a small line level to assure the butt is in correct alignment but it is still subject to line of sight. I like the idea of a sighting rod mounted to the slot in the ferrule but once again the slot is on the horizontal plane and I need the vertical Re: Roller Tip / Ferrule Alignment

I'm talking about the gimbal nock, which has a vertical slot as well.

Hi Tom
Got you now, we were talking two different thimg, I think!!, you are talking about the gimbal and i was talking about the ferrule, I'm using curved unibitts so it would be hard, I'll try a straight butt. Re: Roller Tip / Ferrule Alignment

Right, just pop a straight butt on it for the alignment.
