Surgical Tubing Sources

I have seen references here and in various rod building books concerning the use of surgical tubing to secure guides while wrapping. Can someone here recommend a source of supply for this product and also make recommendation as to the the required size(s) for light to medium spinning/casting rods?

The wealth of information on this board is amazing.

I get mine at a medical supply store. They have many sizes (diameter) to chose from.

I use Bow string sight tubing purchased from a local Archery Shop. This tubing is very strong with a small id. For blank diameters 1/2 inch
and up I use Surgical Tubing.

Steve Bro - I use dental elastics exclusively and they work very well.
The ones I use come from a dental supply that is not a sponsor, so I won't mention their name (e-mail me for the company name).
They are non-latex, non-silicon, and they come in varoius sizes and "pull weights". Since I build primarily fly rods, I use 1/8" heavy bands, just doubling them over on the small tip sections.

What has worked for me and because it is what I had on hand at the time are the bands used for making skirts for jigs or spinnerbaits. I hope some of the suggestions above will lead me to a material similar to that. The bands I have used have a rather small ID and work for all the guides on the rod.

I also use orthodontist rubber bands. I like them a lot. I have tried masking tape, flex coat guide stick, and the tubing. Using the tubing is similar but you have to cut in sections first. With bands that is done. I like how you can move things around easily while testing.
