Guides on a 2 piece rod

Are there any thoughts or guidelines on how far to stay away from the joint of a two piece. My second guide looks really good setting just in front of the joint but I don't want to be too close if there's consequences.

This is a 7' heavy action that's been extended to 8'. If there's no known ill effects I won't worry about it.

You are better off to have a guide sitting close to the ferrule than have the ferrule exactly between two guides. Better stress distribution. I will usually have one sitting very close to the ferrule.

Just make sure when you wrap the 2 peaces are together, this makes for a better uniform fit
