I got a seat put on with rod bond and somehow got glue on the threads that the nut rides on. There was no notice until I tried to move it and now it won't budge. I tried breaking it loose but no go. Should I use heat? The seat is graphte and it could melt? Or what about hot boiling water poured over it? Re: glue on threads

Try the hot water, maybe even soaking it for a few minutes might soften the epoxy enough for you to back off the nut. Then you will have to clean out the threads. Re: glue on threads

I always cover the reel seat threads with masking tape before glue up and screw it to the top Re: glue on threads

i used to tape it up .. but now, i screw the nut to the top and just glue .. i clean up after i finish aligning it.. but of course, you have to ensure that the glue doesn't make it all the way up into the nut.. made that mistake once .. i actually cleaned it as best i could and oiled the area ... managed to keep the thread working.. - Give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day.. Teach a man to fish, he'll be broke! Re: glue on threads

If the heat does not work, pack in ice for a half hour and then use a strap wrench to break the nut loose. I have done this and once I got it free it was easy to pick and poke the offending epoxy out of the threads. This is a mistake you only make ONCE! Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
