Tony -- Did you split a tip and fit it to the blank on the build that broke? If so, what procedure did you use to attach the split tip to the blank? Could something have happened during that process, that may have damaged teh blank? I have been following this post and am always trying to figure the good, bad or ugly with any of breakage issue. Just remember, that we are always trying to improve and it is feed-back thru our customers or users of the products that help us build better ones for the future. Please do not ever feel as if we are dogging any of you. We can't improve if we do not hear the good or bad of any situation. Bob McKamey bobm@mudhole.com Re: Custom Rod warranty?

No Bob, I did not split a tip on the build, I was mentioning about needing to now if I was to match up with my #4 guides.
But the origanle build was built normal tip NO split. Since I have you here on this, what is your opinion on the rod look of a explosion snap? Re: Custom Rod warranty?

Bob McK:
Did Mudhole include a high temp hot melt stick and a flame controlled cigarette lighter with calibrated overheat sensor with the MHX when shipped? Maybe it was a heat sensor failure and the breakage was not related to a defective blank. I have 100 copies of the Rodmaker that I give to new customers. I can not find an example in the listing of a "overheated failure of a tip top" which would cause a failure immediately at the end of the tip top tube. Edited 1 time(s). Tip top installed with 5 minute epoxy, and i didn't use a flame for bubbles. only times i used a flame was on my keeper wrap, tiger wrap and my #12 guide, this was my procedure Bob. As for the tension wraps, i wrapped loose on tiger wrap and tip top, others tighten as seen needed upon build.
i will try to post pics if i can get one that picks up the detail. I may need to do something for a tip top cause im not to sure how or what to use to split this micro tip? im gonna take my time with this, no need to rush it. Re: Custom Rod warranty?

I myself would rather have a ring larger if the tube fits the blank. Still works well. Bill - willierods.com Re: Custom Rod warranty?
