perfection guide

Have some old guides that have the nylon dyable ring. what would you use to dye the ring? Guides were made in colorado i think. thanks

Rit dye. For consistency,use the same bath for all guides you want done, at the same time. No matter how many rods you will build with them. I would advise against boiling your water,mixing in the dye,and immediately immersing them. Let the dye bath cool off some first. Otherwise you may be breaking down the glue holding the aluminum oxide in the nylon retaining ring. That is a failure waiting to happen.

Vinegar will help set the dye permanently. If you do not employ it, you may find your dye to wash out in wet weather.
