Hello All, I was engaged in some interesting conversation this weekend and the subject of a specialty crappie rod came up. I would like to know if anyone out there has built a 10 foot or longer crappie rod and if they would share a little knowledge on it. What kind of blank , seat , etc... I have converted many long fly rods for crappie fishermen who could not find the rods they wanted. Typically we change the first few guides to larger models to accomodate the spinning reels they use. On at least a couple I have rebuilt the handles into the common spinning type with butt grip, reel seat and then foregrip. They end up being just very long spinning rods. I have done maybe a couple from scratch and they were made from either long fly rod blanks or light steelhead blanks. They were made up just like any spinning rod, only longer.
