Have any of you used the cork yoga blocks to make a whole grip? I've seen it used here as inlays and such but never a whole grip. My concern is whether or not it will hold up as a whole grip. I have one cut up in 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 strips ready to turn.
Thanks, Scott Re: Yoga Block Grips???

Scott,
I have a 36 X24 inch block that I purchased for making duck decoys and have since began using for all my grips as the only or main component of my grips. My personal opinion is it will hold up very well, but I have only been building for 1year+. I do have some duck decoys that have spent months at a time banging around in the Mississippi River and they have held up. good luck Steve Re: Yoga Block Grips???

Steven,
Are you coating your grips with anything special? I turned a set of split grip yesterday. I think I'll try it on a person rod I'm working on. Thanks, Scott Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 05/15/2010 12:01PM by Scott Armstrong. Re: Yoga Block Grips???

The least I have done is 1 coat of cork seal and it seems fine. I Like tru oil the best. I have used up to 5 or 6 six coats and then burnished with stock sheen. The most recent builds for the grandkids I settled with 2 coats of tru oil and then burnished. I would post some pics but don't know how.
