I have heard that candle wax is a good lube for ferrules. What do you folks use for this & TIA? Re: Ferrule lube ?

No, it's not. Any sort of wax will tend to disrupt proper ferrule fit and can attract and hold dirt and grit. modern ferrules are made to be used with a dry fit. Just keep them clean and assemble and disassemble them properly.
There was a Trondak product at one time called "Ferrule Lube" which contained a form of teflon that dried completely and didn't leave any visible residue on the ferrule. It was a great product but was dropped due to lack of demand. .............. Re: Ferrule lube ?

FeatherCraft sells a product I use called ferrule wax. It is probably just parrafin, but that is what I use.

Renzetti bought all the ferrule lube stock when they decided to stop making it and sell it on their website.

That Trondak ferrule lube completely stripped the finish off of the male sections of my St. Croix SCIV flyrod blank. Use cautiously. Re: Ferrule lube ?

It won't harm any blanks other than the SCIV and SCV St. Croix models, which were known for very light duty finishes. Even alcohol will remove the finish from them.

Wish I knew that 4 years ago. Haven't had much problem with DNA on the SCIV though. Then again, only had a limited time with DNA on that blank when I had to remove and rewrap a guide. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
