I need your opinion on jig rod I am planning to build. Im shooting for a jig rod to throw fairly light jigs light, sensitive with a crisp action, but Im stuck between two blanks the Batson RX8+C812 and the St Croix 5C70MF. I was also looking at the SCIV blanks, how far off are the V to the IV? I might be asking too much on the specific blanks, but in general which of the two companies offer the more sensitive blank, better action or are the rumors true in which these are the same blank? Your opinions would be appreciated. I realize both companies are sponsors to the board and I don't mean to call either company out, Im just looking for a push so I can start building. I would not say either companies blanks are more sensitive than the other. I use both of them, depending on what or who I am building a rod for. Re: RX8+ or SCV??

The new SC5/6 blanks are tough to beat. I believe them to be the best on today's market. Incredibly strong and super light ... not to mention the "to die for" paint job on the "Blue/Green Flip" models.
You might want to compare the RX8+C812 to the 5C68MXF ... they are much closer in length, line and lure. Do be sure to pay attention to your other components - grip weight, reel seat (trim for weight reduction), guides (lightest you can afford), etc. It is important to realize that you can absolutely ruin the best blank in the world with an inefficient build. In reality, the only way to REALLY know which one you will like the best ... buy them both. Keep the one you like for yourself and start on the other one as a gift for a family member or friend. I am sure they won't mind the "leftovers". Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 05/12/2010 09:27AM by Jim Gamble. Re: RX8+ or SCV??

Asking which has the better action is like asking which has the better color. It all depends on what your personal taste is. Re: RX8+ or SCV??

I have not tried to throw jigs on the blank Karry is referring to.
But it is the finest "Sinko" rod I have ever built. Also works great for Flukes and floating worms. As to your question; Give me an RX8+ anyday! Re: RX8+ or SCV??
