I use a circuit tester for fuses..Small with a little handle..I hit it with steel wool to dull the point and create a super smooth surface...Great for burnishing and packing trim bands, and decro wraps

Josh,
Basically any thing that is very smooth, has a bit of a dull point, and is made of a material that will not leave any residue behind from the tool.
Take care
Roger

I use a "true" burnishing tool that was made to burnish dry transfer lettering, also some small crochet needles which I filed and polished to a fine smooth point, good for micro guides.

I use a hard wood Chinese Chop stick that has a hard finish. I can modify it to what I need. My wife has to spank my hands when We go out for Chinese food or any Oriental food. I once tried to get a set of Ivory ones once. That did not go will with the restaurant. No they were not plastic they were the real thing :))

I also use dental tools and artist spatulas, At one time Trondak - U40 had some cool burnishing stainless steel burnishers Over the years builders use different tool not even associated with rod building. So let your imagination be your guide
